Suzanne’s School of Dance and Stage Performing Arts Ruislip/Ickenham

Latest LAMDA results

The July examination round results have been received and out of the 40 candidates 30 (75%) obtained a Distinction which is 80 marks or above. Absolutely outstanding results! Well done to all pupils and yet again, dare I say it, Sophie our teacher who continually gets the best out of her classes. Mind you she scored the highest ever marks ever recorded at the time in her teaching exams while at Laine Theatre Arts, Epsom.  See more about LAMDA on our Stage/Musical Theatre and Performing Arts page.

Recent RAD Ballet examination round

The results of the July round have now arrived and yet again, I keep saying this but its true, the results are outstanding. The lowest grade is a Merit and of the 45 candidates 40% obtained a Distinction. Wow! Well done to all our pupils and of course to the teachers who continually coach to such a high standard. Its so true that if you’ve ‘walked the walk’ you’ll be a better teacher.

Thanks to all parents and Pupils

On behalf of all of us, my teachers and shop staff I would like to wish parents and pupils a very enjoyable, relaxing, and sunny holiday. Whatever you do stay safe and stay healthy.

I would also very much like to thank all parents for their support over the school year. I love the environment we have in this dance school, the friendliness, and the warmth that comes from parents and pupils.

It is a joy to see children getting so much fun and satisfaction from this school, and meeting so many very friendly and interesting people who walk through our shop door from all corners of the world. Thank you.

Royal Ballet School Teachers Invitation Day 2108

Rachel and I had a lovely day out at the Royal Ballet School in Richmond Park. This is an annual invite to Dance Teachers who have pupils in the full time school and is something I have been proud to attend since 2002 when Rachel was our first pupil there. We have the opportunity to watch them in one of their classes followed by a lovely lunch!

We currently have 2 pupils at the school, Mia Bailey in her 5th year and Jasmine Whitford in her 4th year.

It was so nice to see them both doing so well and blossoming into such talented dancers. Rachel and I felt so proud. It was also lovely to yet again look around the marvellous building set within fantastic grounds, such a lovely place for those chosen to grow up.

Teenstars 2018 Update

Our Southern Finalists all performed their routines to perfection, however Abby Stockwell was the only one chosen to progress into the All England Teenstar Final to be held in late July. We all wish her well. The standard has been so high in the dance and singing categories. It was a pleasure to watch all entries. So much talent around!

Teenstars 2018

Congratulations to 4 of our pupils who have successfully passed 2 preliminary rounds, from thousands of candidates, to perform in the Southern Finals. If they are successful they will perform in the All England Finals.

They are:

Abbie Crooks

Abby Stockwell

Jorja Hockley

Jessica Owen

Jessica’s last performance can be seen in the YouTube link below

Good Luck in the Southern Final! But to reach it is already such a success!

Latest ‘Royal Academy of Dance’ Ballet Examination Results

The March 2018 examination results have just arrived. Wow! It just gets better. Yet again, in a quiet and unassuming manner, the very high quality of our teaching staff is proven. And, our pupils once again demonstrated their ability to not just take on board the teaching but also to perform to their potential under exam conditions. Well Done to all of you.

Of the 34 candidates across Primary to Grade 5 examinations there were 17 Distinctions (50%) and 17 high Merits.

Dance Spectacular Show 2018

The registration forms and first information letter are now available in our shop. Please note that not all of our classes will be doing the show. The classes highlighted on our timetable (below) in pink are doing the show, those that are in black will not be doing the show. It is mainly Graded Ballet, Graded Tap, and 4 year classes not doing the show. This allows pupils to continue learning their dance syllabus without any interruption.

If your child is in a Ballet class that is not doing the show, and she/he would like to do it, you can either transfer to a ballet class doing the show or add the class to your activity until the October half term.

‘Cats’ Workshop Easter Holiday

And what an enjoyable and informative day we had. Children were taught some of the choreographed routines from the Musical including how to move and sit like a cat and make people ‘believe’ you’re a cat. Great fun.

On Wednesday 4 April we offer a warm welcome to Luke Cinque-White who is coming to Ickenham for the day to run two workshops. Luke is a former  Mister Mistoffelees and we are lucky to have him for the day to share his wealth of talent and knowledge to our School pupils. Don’t miss out!

To secure a place please see our shop staff or phone the shop on 01895 631858.

Royal Ballet School

Every year the ‘‘ website produces its listing of the Top Ten ballet schools in the world. For the tenth year in succession the Royal Ballet School has come in First place. The Royal Ballet Lower School is located in Richmond Park in a wonderful building called ‘White Lodge’ an absolutely amazing setting. It takes pupils from 11-16 years before they further audition for the Upper School located adjacent to the Opera House. Each year it accepts 10-12 boys and 10-12 girls from around the world with around 50 Finalists having to undertake one last audition.

Since 2002 Suzanne’s School of Dance has had 7 pupils successfully audition into White Lodge with a further 3 pupils reach the Final auditions.  Two of these pupils are currently still at White Lodge while Keira Moore has recently reached the Final auditions. Well Done!

White Lodge Entrants: Rachel Ware 2002, Leanne Morris 2003, Georgia Ware 2005, Anna Rose O’Sullivan 2005, Lauren Porter 2008, Mia Bailey 2013, Jasmine Whitford 2014.

Final Auditionists: Micaela Infante 2011, Georgie Lee Evans 2013, Keira Moore 2018.

For more information on the Top ten listing please visit: 2017/0711/the-best-of-the-best-top-ballet-schools-of-2017

Final Audition Update: Keira Moore was recalled at the Final Audition meaning she was strongly considered for the final few placings although she was unfortunately not successful. However to reach the Finals is such a marvellous feat in itself and this has helped her in being granted one of the very few Full Scholarship placements at Tring Academy which she will take up in September of this year. Many congratulations! We will miss her but wish her all the very best.

 Dance Spectacular Show 2017

Wow! What a Show. We’ve been told by many it’s the best yet and we’re inclined to agree. Well done to all the cast, absolute stars, everyone of them. And to all the helpers who gave up their time to make stage props, adjust costumes, and look after the boys and girls in their dressing rooms.

Finally, by no means least to the choreographers. We do not know how they improve year on year with their routines and musical theatre mixes but improve they do. Well Done to all.

Below is a snapshot of the Show. DVD’s of the Show are now available to order from our shop

Please note that we are now busy planning this years Dance Show which will be held on Saturday 20 October as usual at the Beck Theatre Hayes. Full Dress Rehearsals will be on Thursday and Friday 18 and 19 October at the Beck Theatre. Our teachers are now beginning to incorporate show routines, choreography, and musical themes into the classes

LAMDA (Stage) Classes

To any potential new parents and pupils I would like to emphasise that we do run LAMDA classes during the week and at weekends. For those that don’t know LAMDA stands for ‘London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts’.
These classes are designed to improve children’s elocution, articulation, acting and performance in order to give them the skills and confidence to succeed in life. Our teachers are professionally trained to coach children in these skill sets which culminates in globally, OFQUAL recognised examinations. These examinations at Level 3 are also included in the current UCAS tariff, with a Grade 6 Diploma currently being 40 points. They are very popular classes and all of these perform at the Beck Theatre in our Dance Spectacular Show.
