Suzanne’s School of Dance and Performing Arts Ruislip/Ickenham

Dance Spectacular Show

Well we’re now into the Summer term (18 April – 21 July) and looking forward to our annual Dance Spectacular Show, at the Beck Theatre in Hayes, held during the October half term. Dance routines are now being choreographed by our teachers and pupils are beginning to learn these culminating in performances in front of a packed audience.

Parents please note we are now taking registrations for this Dance Show. The forms can be obtained from our shop counter or via our ‘Dance Show 2017’ page. Payment can be made at the shop. There is a cut off date to register which is 20 May. This allows us to order the correct number of dance/musical theatre costumes. Once the costumes have been ordered if there are late entries we may not be able to obtain the costume or the price may be at a higher rate for parents.

As usual further information can be found on our ‘Dance Spectacular Show’ page

Summer Holiday Schools

Our annual 5 day Monday-Friday Summer Schools for aged 6-16 years will soon be upon us and these are currently being prepared by our teaching staff. We already have a number of children booked onto these so if you are contemplating please do not leave too long as places are running out. A £50 deposit secures your child’s place for the week.

Intensive Ballet Summer School 7-11 August

Musical Theatre Summer School 14-18 August

More detailed information about these can be found on our ‘Summer School Activity’ page. These two Summer Schools perform in both our Matinee and Evening Dance Spectacular Show

West End ‘Matilda’ Final Auditions – Congratulations

A very big congratulations to Abby Stockwell and Jorja Hockley for getting through their preliminary auditions into the Final audition for Matilda.

Although they weren’t chosen to take part in Matilda on this occasion it has provided them with valuable experience for future occasions, and with so many children going for these parts made them realise how close they actually came.

Sophie, our Musical Theatre teacher, must also be congratulated for developing them to such a high standard, recognising their potential to act in Matilda and then putting them forward for these auditions.

For those that wish to do Musical Theatre whether for enjoyment and/or future work in the entertainment industry we do have some spaces in our Saturday 12-2pm class for 13-18 yrs and 3-5pm class for 7-12yrs.

Please phone our School on 01895 631858 or email Suzanne at ‘suzanneware@sky.com’ for further information

Ballet Exam Round – Awesome Results

The March Ballet examination round results are now with us. Wow! What a successful round with loads of Distinctions and Merits. So, well done to all of our pupils and well done to our teachers. The results will be given out by our teachers in the classes with their certificates.

Dance Festivals

We have also been busy on the Dance Festival front, these being held over half terms and school holidays. As usual we have an abundance of medals and placings in both Dance and Musical Theatre sections. I must say a big thank you to Sophie, Rachel, and Georgia for their choreography. As usual these routines hit the mark for our pupils to display their ability and with their flawless performances the outcome is always a very high standard.

More information on the pupils, their results and pictures can be found on our ‘Dance Festival’ page. However there are a few pictures below of just some of our entrants.

LAMDA Classes

To any potential new parents and pupils I would like to emphasise that we do run LAMDA classes during the week and at weekends. For those that don’t know LAMDA stands for ‘London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts’.
These classes are designed to improve children’s elocution, articulation, acting and performance in order to give them the skills and confidence to succeed in life. Our teachers are professionally trained to coach children in these skill sets which culminates in globally, OFQUAL recognised examinations. These examinations at Level 3 are also included in the current UCAS tariff, with a Grade 6 Diploma currently being 40 points. They are very popular classes and all of these perform at the Beck Theatre in our Dance Spectacular Show.

New Adult Evening Classes

We also have two new adult classes,  adult Jazz on Tuesdays 7.30-8.30pm, and adult Streetdance Sundays 12.30-1.30pm. Both are pay as you go. Come along and give them a go, they’re fun and energetic so a good way to tone up and get your heart pumping.

Dance Shop

Our Dance shop now has a new range of the latest Bloch Hotpants in velvet and glitzy foil well worth looking at as well as the latest Bloch and Capezio designer leotards – all at competitive prices.
